Blagoevgrad lies in Rila's lap. The mountain starting directly from the city will cool you down on hot days, cheer you up at any time of the year and reward you with panoramic views, peace and satisfaction. We offer you two favorite routes for a walk through the mountains, starting from the city.
Since 2013, a 33-meter cross has been built over Blagoevgrad, with funds from donations. It is illuminated in the evening and can be seen from almost the entire city. If you want to walk in the forest, the path to the Cross is one of the most accessible ways from the city center to find yourself in the coolness of the trees. The tour is about 2 km and will take you about 1 hour. There are benches for rest. From the top there is a wonderful panorama over Blagoevgrad and the surrounding area. A small chapel was built here. The surrounding area is called Zaeva Polyana.
The beginning of the route is the path above Loven Dom Park. You can extend the route by another 1 kilometer if you follow the path to the north from the playground in front of the Hunting House, which will take you to the Zoo.
If you want to enjoy panoramic views from the other (northern) side of the city, take the next "Dabrava" tour below.
