FESTIVALS AND fairs IN BLAGOEVGRAD AND REGION

В кварталите в Благоевград и околните села на 1. Януари цари извънредно положение - Сурва! Момци и девойки със страшни маски обикалят улиците и забавляват публиката. В края на празненствата, обикновено първата неделя на годината, всички групи се срещат на фестивала Кукерски игри в Пиринско в центъра на Благоевград. Близо 15 местни групи от страшни кукери, преоблечени старци, мечкари с мечки и мъже, облечени като бабички и съпроводени от девойки в шарени носии обикалят благоевградския център. Всяка група тръгва от площада пред Съдебната палата, минава по главната пешеходна улица и стига до общината, където е краят на тържественото шествие. Там кметът и жури награждават най-добрата маска, най-добрата група и т. н. 

In the neighborhoods of Blagoevgrad and the surrounding villages, a state of emergency reigns on January 1 - Surva! Boys and girls with scary masks roam the streets and entertain the public. At the end of the festivities, usually the first Sunday of the year, all groups meet at the Kukerski Festival in Pirinsko in the center of Blagoevgrad. Nearly 15 local groups of scary kukerei, old men in disguise, bear bearers with bears and men dressed as grandmothers and accompanied by girls in colorful costumes tour the center of Blagoevgrad. Each group starts from the Courthouse Square, passes along the main pedestrian street and reaches the municipality, where the solemn procession ends. There, the mayor and a jury award the best mask, the best band, etc.

In recent years, young people have settled in the village of Gabrovo, the last before the border with North Macedonia. The old Church of St. Georgi from the 13-14th century was renovated, a pleasant recreation area was built around it, next to which a small creek flows. For several years, the old tradition of holding a St. George's Day meeting has returned to the village of Gabrovo. Around the restored temple, people gather from near and far, a sacrifice of mutton is prepared, there is live music, people bend over. 

On June 1st is the fair in the village of Tserovo.

На 05.06.2023 се отбелязва храмовия празник на църквата Св. Троица в с. Мощанец. Има разбира се и курбан за здраве, музика и танци. 

Всяка година на Илинден (20. Юли) в село Рилци се прави курбан и се празнува празника на Св. Илия, на когото е кръстена и църквата. 

Годишният събор в с. Покровник е на Св. Пантелеймон (27. Юли), чието име носи и църквата. Прави се курбан и се извиват хора.
