I was in my mid-30s when I visited Blagoevgrad for the first time; quite by chance, on the way back from Bansko to Sofia, I made a quick stop in the city for a few hours. It was a gray and rainy February day, probably the worst time, to visit a new and unknown place. Despite the cold and the wet streets, I was fascinated - so much color and variety in one place: Revival houses, beautiful bridges, a large communist square reminiscent of the fountains in front of the NDK in Sofia, pedestrian zone with cafes and restaurants where I found myself completely gone, young people and students everywhere. I regretted that it took me so long to discover this treasure that is only an hour away from Sofia! A few years later, I already live here, find wonderful places every day and want to help more people not to make my mistake but to visit this wonderful piece of Bulgaria.
